Joint Stamp Issue between the Vatican City State, the Italian Republic, the Republic of San Marino, and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta
Postal Stamps Commemorating the Canonization of Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati
A portrait of Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901–1925), painted by Alberto Falchetti (1878–1951) and owned by the Frassati family, along with a photograph of Carlo Acutis (1991–2006) wearing a red T-shirt and a backpack, taken on Mount Subasio near Assisi during one of his last school trips before his untimely death — these are the two images featured on the stamps dedicated to the canonization of the two Blessed, scheduled for the morning of Sunday, September 7, in St. Peter’s Square, presided over by Pope Leo XIV.
The stamp issues are curated by the Philatelic and Postal Office of the Governorate of the Vatican City State, in collaboration with the issuing authorities of Italy, the Republic of San Marino, and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and aim to pay tribute to these two young men who bore witness to Christ during their brief lives.
The two stamps are jointly issued by the Philatelic and Postal Office of the Vatican City State Governorate, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Poste San Marino, and the Magistral Post of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Each stamp has a face value of €1.35.
In addition to the stamps, the Vatican Philatelic and Postal Office has also prepared a special commemorative folder for Carlo Acutis, which includes the stamp, official souvenir covers, and a "day of issue" postmark. The price of the commemorative folder is €10.00.
The new stamps and the special folder have been made available for purchase immediately after the canonization at the Post Office in St. Peter’s Square and from then on, at all Vatican Post outlets.
